February break is over and both my kids are back in school! If you’re like me, the last week (year?) was spent at different indoor play spaces around Boston, trying to keep your kiddos entertained. Luckily, the end is in sight for Winter, but if you’re still looking for some entertainment on the weekends, here are some of my favorite spots for indoor activities with kids in Boston!
When I hopped on the phone with Christine to discuss her Savin Hill Dorchester Newborn Photographer session, she told me something that I have heard over and over. She wasn’t planning on hiring a professional photographer, but now her baby was 7 weeks old and she realized she only had (not so great) iPhone photos of her! Not only that, but MOM wasn’t in most of them! She really wanted to document this time while her baby is tiny, and ALSO be in the pictures!

Its February, which means I’m busy with Winter maternity photos in Boston. This time of year, most of my pregnant clients choose studio maternity photo sessions over outdoor shoots. Obviously, living in Boston, the weather is a major factor for choosing a location for your photos during the winter. While I love snowy family photos when kiddos are a little older and everyone can bundle up and play, maternity sessions are different. Here’s some reasons why my studio is my preferred location for Winter maternity photos in Boston.
I’m often asked, “how old should my baby be for newborn photos?” Every photographer has a different opinion for the perfect age for newborn photography. My personal preference is 2 weeks. BUT, while there was a time that I felt pretty strongly about this, I really don’t care that much how old your baby is...

In reality? It often involves snacks, bribes, strong opinions, and at least one child who absolutely refuses pants.
And that’s… totally fine. 😅
The goal of sibling newborn photos isn’t perfect behavior or everyone smiling at the camera at the same time. It’s capturing real moments — curiosity, chaos, cuddles, and the very beginning of a lifelong relationship.
We keep things low-pressure:
• We start with sibling photos while attention spans still exist
• We don’t force hugs (ever)
• We take breaks (lots of them)
• We fully expect some wiggles, wandering, and craziness
Some of the best photos happen between the planned moments — when a toddler leans in unexpectedly, declares the baby “too loud,” or gives a quick kiss and runs away.
Your kids don’t need to cooperate. They just need to show up as themselves.
And honestly? That’s where the good stuff is.

No perfect décor.
No spotless counters.
No pressure to make your home look like a magazine.
These photos are about connection, comfort, and documenting this fleeting season exactly as it is. The places where you’re feeding your baby at 3am, rocking them to sleep, and slowly finding your rhythm together.
Your home already tells your family’s story. I’m just there to help you remember it.

2025 felt like a year of momentum and gratitude.
After some slower behind-the-scenes work in 2024, this past year was my busiest ever — 116 families, including maternity, newborn, and family portraits. I am so grateful to each of you who trusted me with your memories 🤍
