When planning your baby’s first photoshoot, one of the biggest decisions you’ll make is choosing the best location for your newborn photoshoot. Should you have your session at home, outdoors, or in a professional studio? Each option has its own benefits, but if you’re looking for a stress-free, beautifully lit, and cozy environment, a professional studio is the best choice.
We had a maternity session together back in November, and I immediately loved this couple. One of the best things about my First Year Collection, is that I get to know my clients so well. During their maternity session, we chatted about their life, how the pregnancy was going, and how excited they were for this baby. By the time we did their newborn session, we felt like old friends.

I can totally relate to this, even as a professional photographer. I took endless (iPhone and big camera) photos of my little ones, but the only photos I had with them was of me in sweats and dirty hair, and mostly horrible selfies. I actually did TWO newborn photo sessions (hiring other professionals, of course) with each of my kiddos, and they were worth every penny. There’s nothing worse than looking back at photos from these days and 1. hate every photo that you’re in, or 2. not be in any of them!
