Why to book a Boston maternity photographer
I know a lot of people don’t like how they look when they’re pregnant. BUT, this season is temporary. I hope when you look back at these images, you will remember the craziness of growing another human inside of your body and how amazing that is. It’s also nice to have a few photos of your “before” life–when you were just a couple, before you became a family.
I do have to admit that my favorite maternity sessions are with older children as well. Documenting each stage of your family, even before its “complete” is so sweet. Ollie loved kissing my belly during our maternity photo session when I was pregnant with Rory. And both the kids love looking at those pictures today.
Confession: You might be surprised to know that I didn’t do a maternity photo session with my first baby, Oliver. Why? He was due on March 1st, so I didn’t think an outdoor session was possible. I didn’t know of a Boston newborn and maternity photographer who did sessions in their studio. This is one reason why I love having a studio–to have a beautiful option for maternity sessions during those gross winter months.
I did take a few photos of myself. One random day in late January happened to be warm and sunny. So I threw on some make up and the dress I wore to my baby shower and ran over to the Arboretum–my favorite shooting location–with my camera and tripod. While I did get a few images of myself that I don’t hate, I really do not have any nice photos of me and my husband while I was pregnant with Ollie. I have to admit that I really regret this, which was why I had to do maternity photos with Rory!
Why to book a Boston newborn photo session
Well, newborn babies are so dang cute, and change SO QUICKLY, I don’t usually have to do much convincing of why it’s so important to book newborn photos. What is a bigger change in your life than bringing a new baby home from the hospital?
Those tiny toes, soundly (or noisily) sleeping in your arms, bundled up in a swaddle blanket. We’ll get it all. While some Boston newborn and maternity photographers focus only on the baby, my approach is family-centered. So you will have good photos of your baby AND YOU. I think this is just so important. Not to mention if you have older children, it can be impossible to get a nice photo of the littles together. Don’t worry, I have you covered!
It can be a little difficult to imagine fitting a newborn photo session in during that crazy postpartum period.
