Is my baby too old for newborn photos? I get this question all the time!
Maybe you thought you wanted to do newborn photos and you forgot to reach out. Maybe you contacted a few photographers but never got around to booking. Maybe you thought, why would I ever want newborn photos? But then your baby arrived and you realized you wanted to document those tiny toes and sleepy baby faces. And now here you are, worried its too late.
Is my baby too old for newborn photos? No!
I want you to know that it is NEVER TO LATE TO GET PHOTOS! Yes, it is true that I usually schedule newborn sessions for 2-3 weeks after birth, which you’ll see all over my website. BUT, your baby doesn’t have to be 2 weeks old for us to get amazing shots of them, and document this early phase. If your baby is already a few weeks old, or even a few months old, I am still down to do a “newborn” photo shoot, so please get in touch with me to book your session!
Because my newborn poses and workflow is natural and baby led, we can do all the same poses that I normally do with a 2 week old, even if baby is 3 months old. Will your baby snooze the entire time? Maybe not, but who cares?
Here is why I actually LOVE photographing older babies!
Adorable baby expressions
After the first few weeks, your baby will start waking up. They will be able to hold eye contact, and even smile! I absolutely love getting awake shots of babies, whether they are 2 weeks old or 2 months old. Big yawn, scrunchy eyebrows, and gummy smiles are basically the best thing ever, and so cute to look back on as they get older.
You have more time to heal
Birth can be really rough on our bodies and it takes time to heal. I am always very conscious of this with moms who come into my studio a few weeks after birth. I try to make sure you’re always comfortable, but the extra weeks or months make it a lot easier to get around 🙂
You’ll love the photos, no matter what age
I promise, you won’t look back at the photos from our session and think, “I just wish he was a few weeks younger!” You will look at them and just feel so happy that you did them, and that you will have these memories forever.
