I love being a Boston extended family photographer! This might actually be an unpopular opinion, but I think they are so much fun. So many combinations, its kind of like giving my clients multiple family sessions bundled into one. While extended family portraits can sometimes feel chaotic, there are some things that you can do to make things a little easier. Here are some tips for both families and photographers, for amazing pictures and successful extended family photo sessions.
My parents live in Falmouth, MA on the Cape, so we spend a lot of time dow there in the Summer. Of course the beaches are great, my personal favorite is Old Silver in North Falmouth, though I haven’t been in years.
Surprisingly, we don’t actually spend much time at the beach as a family. Its a whole to do, getting everyone ready, working around nap time, bringing enough food and keeping the water cold, hauling the beach toys and chairs and towels the most annoying part–parking. So, if we do go to the beach, we go after the lifeguards and parking attendants leave.
Luckily, Falmouth and the surrounding area has tons of other fun things to do with kids, besides going to the beach.

The wardrobe she offered up for postpartum moms for the photoshoot. I loved that she provided a link in advance so when I showed up to her studio I already knew what I wanted to try on. I opted to wear my own dress that I brought because my skin tone looks better in bright whites.
The ease! All I had to do was show up and the studio was stocked with food, baby changing table, cozy couch – it’s like showing up to a friends home!
Efficient – Whitney was amazing with my baby and she was able to calm her down and position the baby for beautiful pictures! The time flew and we opted for the larger package because the photos came out fantastic we couldn’t choose!
Friendly – Whitney was welcoming and patient when our baby became hungry during the shoot! She let us feed her mid way through the shoot!
