Why You Should Book a Newborn AND Maternity Photography Session
Pregnancy and the newborn stage are two of the most fleeting and precious times in a family’s journey. While maternity photography captures the excitement and anticipation of welcoming your baby, newborn photography preserves those early, delicate moments once your little one arrives. Booking both a maternity and newborn photography session ensures you document the full story—from bump to baby—with beautiful, timeless images you’ll cherish forever.
If you’re considering professional photography during this special time, here are some compelling reasons why booking both a maternity and newborn session is the best decision you can make.
Capture the Full Journey of Motherhood
Pregnancy is an incredible transformation, both physically and emotionally. A maternity session allows you to embrace and celebrate this moment before it passes. Then, once your baby arrives, a newborn session beautifully continues the story, capturing those first few weeks of your little one’s life.
By booking both, you’ll have a complete visual story—from glowing anticipation to the first cuddles with your newborn—creating a meaningful connection between the two milestones.
Consistency in Your Photos & Style
When you book your maternity and newborn photography sessions with the same photographer, you’ll get a consistent style and aesthetic across both sets of images.
This makes it easy to create a cohesive album, wall gallery, or baby book that tells the full story of your journey into motherhood. Whether you prefer a light and airy look, cozy and minimalist tones, or something more artistic, working with the same photographer ensures a seamless visual experience.
Build a Connection with Your Photographer
A professional photoshoot can feel vulnerable, especially when capturing intimate moments like pregnancy and early motherhood. By booking both sessions with the same photographer, you build trust and comfort, which leads to more natural and relaxed photos.
When your newborn session arrives, you’ll already know what to expect, and your photographer will be familiar with your preferences, making the process even smoother.
Document the Bond Between You and Your Baby
Your love for your baby starts long before they’re born. A maternity session allows you to visually express that deep connection, excitement, and anticipation. Then, in your newborn session, you get to see that love fully realized—holding, kissing, and snuggling the little one you’ve been waiting for.
Having both sessions allows you to look back and see how your journey unfolded, from carrying your baby in your belly to cradling them in your arms.
A Beautiful Way to Celebrate Your Growing Family
If this is your first baby, maternity and newborn photos will mark the beginning of your family’s story. If you already have children, these sessions are a wonderful way to involve siblings in the experience, capturing their excitement as they prepare to welcome a new baby and their sweet first interactions as big brothers or sisters.
These photos will not only be treasured by you but also by your child as they grow up and see how much they were loved from the very beginning.
A Timeless Keepsake to Pass Down
Your maternity and newborn photos will become some of the most cherished images in your family’s history. They serve as a beautiful reminder of this incredible season of life, allowing you to relive the emotions, excitement, and love you felt during pregnancy and those first days with your baby.
Printed albums, framed wall art, or even a side-by-side maternity and newborn image displayed together can serve as a timeless keepsake that your child will one day treasure.
Book Your Maternity & Newborn Photography Sessions Together
The journey into motherhood is one of the most transformative experiences of your life, and it deserves to be captured in a way that you’ll cherish forever. By booking both a maternity and newborn photography session, you’ll ensure you have a beautiful, cohesive collection of memories—from pregnancy to those precious first weeks with your baby.

Including siblings in newborn photos sounds sweet in theory.
In reality? It often involves snacks, bribes, strong opinions, and at least one child who absolutely refuses pants.
And that’s… totally fine. 😅
The goal of sibling newborn photos isn’t perfect behavior or everyone smiling at the camera at the same time. It’s capturing real moments — curiosity, chaos, cuddles, and the very beginning of a lifelong relationship.
We keep things low-pressure: • We start with sibling photos while attention spans still exist • We don’t force hugs (ever) • We take breaks (lots of them) • We fully expect some wiggles, wandering, and craziness
Some of the best photos happen between the planned moments — when a toddler leans in unexpectedly, declares the baby “too loud,” or gives a quick kiss and runs away.
Your kids don’t need to cooperate. They just need to show up as themselves.
And honestly? That’s where the good stuff is.

One of the biggest worries parents have before an in-home newborn session is whether their house is “photo-ready.”
Here’s the truth: it doesn’t need to be 🤍
During an in-home newborn session, we use just a few light-filled spots—your bed, the nursery, a cozy corner of the living room, a window with beautiful natural light. Real spaces where life is actually happening right now.
No perfect décor. No spotless counters. No pressure to make your home look like a magazine.
These photos are about connection, comfort, and documenting this fleeting season exactly as it is. The places where you’re feeding your baby at 3am, rocking them to sleep, and slowly finding your rhythm together.
Your home already tells your family’s story. I’m just there to help you remember it.

2025 felt like a year of momentum and gratitude. After some slower behind-the-scenes work in 2024, this past year was my busiest ever — 116 families, including maternity, newborn, and family portraits. I am so grateful to each of you who trusted me with your memories 🤍
I was also deeply humbled to be named Favorite Family Photographer (South of Boston) by Community Kangaroo — thank you to everyone who voted. It means more than I can say.
Some of the things I loved most in 2025: • Launching the First Year Collection (seeing families grow over time has been incredible) • Adding more product options to help you enjoy your photos in your home • Streamlining communication and booking so your experience feels smooth and supportive
Looking ahead, I’m excited about: ✨ Studio upgrades (hello snacks & coffee ☕️!) ✨ Expanded styling + fittings ✨ Giving more love to in-home newborn sessions ✨ Showing up more here on Instagram ✨ Monthly newsletters that are short, helpful, and worth your time
Thank you for being here, for supporting my small business, and for letting me do what I love. I can’t wait to make more memories with you in 2026 🤍
