Yay your baby is finally here! Congratulations! I cannot wait to meet your little one and photograph their cuteness. Here's all the information on how preparing for your newborn session:

WHERE AM I GOING?

My studio is located in my home at: 25 Brown Ave, Roslindale. Come through the front gate and I'll greet you at the front door! Please note that the studio is on the second floor, and I'm happy to help you carry your things up the stairs.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE?

There are a few things you can do to help our chances of a happy, sleepy baby.

  1. Feed baby right before you leave for your session. Hopefully, baby will be full and sleepy when you arrive, and we can get started right away. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN TO DO PREPARE!
  2. Keep baby awake for an hour or two before you come. The sleepier baby is on arrival, the quicker and easier the entire session will be. I know this is really hard to do in the first few weeks, so please don't stress about it. If you can, give baby a bath and play with them in just a diaper before your last feed.
  3. Dress baby in a zip up sleeper that won't have to go over their head and wake them up.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Please bring plenty of formula or pumped milk, or be prepared to nurse during the session. The key to keeping baby asleep is a full belly!

Please also bring extra diapers and wipes, and a pacifier (even if baby doesn't usually use one).

Feel free to bring food/drinks. I'll have you feed baby during the session to keep her sleeping, but for the most part, you can sit back and relax (and nap if you want!)

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

I have a few gorgeous dresses and tops that you can choose from. Check out my client closet here! I'm happy to help you with styling your outfits as well. If you prefer something more casual, jeans and a plain, neutral colored top works best (cream, tan, grey, black, white.) Dads look great in white or black plain t-shirts and jeans as well.

My family set ups are all cream/white, so if you'd like to wear something more colorful, it won't clash.

Siblings should follow suit as above. The focus is really on baby and the relationships, so there's no need to worry too much about the outfits. Simple neutral colors work great.

HOW WILL THE SESSION GO?

I start each session with the diaper on and wrap baby up to get them into a deep sleep. Throughout the session, I'll unwrap them to reveal their tiny toes for a few poses. Usually this is when baby is ready to to eat again, and then we do parent shots with baby naked, and a few more poses if they are still asleep!

When there is an older sibling, family and sibling shots are done with baby wrapped at the beginning of the session.

"Accidents" are totally normal and I'm very used to being around naked babies, so don't worry! I expect it—everything that I put them on naked is washable.

DO I NEED TO BRING PROPS?

I have tons of backgrounds, hats, headbands, and props, so you don't have to worry about bringing anything!

HOW LONG WILL THE SESSION BE?

Sessions are customized to you. The session will last up to 2-3 hours, depending on how well baby sleeps. If at any time you are DONE, just let me know! My goal is just to get you as many great shots as I can, but I understand that you are exhausted, and this is a long time.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

After your session is over, I'll have your proofing gallery ready for you to view within a few days. I'll send you a link where you can place your order and choose your images.
